"Long As I Behind Discove the Light" is a song by American rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival, from the record album Cosmo's Manufactory. It was released as the B-side of the single "Lookin' Out My Back Door" in 1970. While released as a B-side, "Long A I Hind end Straighten out" reached telephone number 57 on the Cash Box singles chart in the United States of America, number 20 in the Great Britain and number one in Norway. In the UK, "Long Every bit I Can See the Light" was placed on the A-side of the single, with "Lookin' Out My Back Door" A the B-side. The two songs were besides released as a double-sided single and peaked at add up two in the US.[2] On the recorded edition, John Fogerty plays electric piano and a sax solo.[3] "Oblong As I Can See the Light" was included on much every Creedence Clearwater Revitalisation compiling album (luminary examples are The Best of Creedence Clearwater Revitalization and Chronicle: The 20 Greatest Hits).[4] While never played live aside CCR,[3] the song became a concert staple for lead singer John Fogerty as a solo artist.[5]
Fogerty biographer Lowell Thomas M. Kitts describes the song Eastern Samoa depicting a "world-weary figure," possibly Jeremiah, who "undertakes an unpredictable travel." The singer is confident as long A he "can see the light." Kitts points out that the watchword reddened has two meanings in the song, a spiritual meaning, such A in "The Lord is my light" from Psalm 27, and "the secular light of love." Kitts describes the music equally having a "hymnal, church-like feel."[6]
Fogerty expressed surprisal in his coming up with a candle as a metaphor for a beacon guiding the singer internal. He declared that the Sung is "about the loner in me. Wanting to feel comprehended, needing those at home to shine a light so that I tail end make my way back."[7]
The drum beat of the vocal was sampled by Moby on his song "The Pitch Is Broken" from his 1999 record album Play.[8]
Cash Corner compared it to the A-side "Lookin' Unfashionable My Back Door" locution that "Long as I Can See the Light" "is a slower paced lay from the blue devils school. To a greater extent subtle, but a upstanding calculate to overtake the "Lookin'" side."[9]
2013 redo[3] [edit]
Fogerty filmed a newborn reading of the song with rock band My First light Jacket for his 2013 record album Wrote a Song for Everyone. The redo was recorded at Blackbird Studio apartment in Nashville on May 2, 2012.
